Measures to Support Accessibility
RLC has implemented the following steps to ensure the RLC Website meets accessibility standards:
- Engaged Digital Marketing staff in ongoing accessibility training, including a requirement for all team members to complete the W3C edX Intro to Web Accessibility certification.
- Designed and tested the RLC Website against WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards using Axe DevTools and end-user testing.
- Applied formal accessibility quality assurance processes to all digital content.
- Established an accessibility team, A11y at RLC, to develop policy and set training standards for the Digital Marketing team.
Note: Third-party vendor solutions may not meet these standards, as RLC does not control their proprietary source code. We are actively encouraging vendors to align with the guidelines above.
In addition, RLC is working toward:
- Ensuring all Digital Marketing Team members advocate for accessibility.
- Collaborating with vendors to improve third-party service accessibility on the RLC Website.
- Involving a diverse group, including older adults and individuals with disabilities, in research, design, and testing.
Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology
The RLC Website is designed to work with the following:
- Current major versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge on Unix, Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS devices.
The RLC Website may not be compatible with:
- Browsers older than two major versions.
- Mobile operating systems older than three years.
- Internet Explorer on any device or platform.
Technical Specifications
The RLC Website relies on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for proper function. Compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards is not guaranteed without these technologies.
Assessment Approach
RLC evaluates website accessibility through:
- Approach: Self-Evaluation
- Design Tools: Figma Able Plugin for color contrast, Accessible Brand Colors for ADA compliance.
- Development Tools: Axe DevTools Pro to identify and categorize accessibility issues.
