Coronado Villa's Holiday Food Drive

Resort Lifestyle Communities | November 17, 2020

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Residents of Coronado Villa Retirement Resort are hosting a food drive benefiting the Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico now through Monday, December 21.

The food drive will help Coronado Villa residents bring awareness to the issue of hunger and food insecurity in Albuquerque and surrounding areas that affect children, adults, seniors, and veterans alike.  The sting of hunger is felt even more harshly during the holiday season, a time when families are gathering around full tables to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. Coronado Villa residents understand that there are those less fortunate and have rallied together to make a difference this holiday season.

"We're excited to be out in the community gathering support and donations this year for the Roadrunner Food Bank," said Ashley Johnston, Manager at Coronado Villa. "The spirit of the holiday season inspires many in our community to harness the energy of generosity into something charitable and meaningful for others. We're incredibly thankful for all those participating in this year's campaign as it provides necessary resources to help our hungry neighbors, and gives hope for a holiday free-of-hunger."

According to RFB (Roadrunner Food Bank), the impact of COVID-19 has left many in New Mexico facing hunger for the first time with 1 in 3 children at risk of hunger and 1 in 5 people overall.

Those who wish to support Coronado Villa's food drive may donate any non-perishable food item, though the food bank is especially in need of pop-top single-serve items, canned meats and vegetables, condiments, boxed meals, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, beans, sauces, soups, canned fruit, rice, pasta, and shelf-stable milk.

Donations are being accepted now through Monday, December 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Coronado Villa Retirement Resort, located at 6900 San Vicente Ave. NE in Albuquerque. Monetary contributions are also accepted via Coronado Villa's Online Fund Drive at https://rsrt.life/CV-FoodDrive. Every $1 raised can allow five meals distributed.
