LITTLETON, CO – Residents at Sky Pointe Retirement Community in Littleton, Colorado, announced they collected 1,065 pounds of food for southwest Denver metro area food banks.
The 'Big Hearts in Littleton' Drive-Thru Food Drive hosted from June 13 thru 20 benefited the Open Arms and Love Inc. Food Banks. The food drive was aimed to help build up food supplies for Denver area seniors to provide nutritious meals as they continue to limit trips during this unique time.
"We know food pantries are a necessary resource and they have had increased demands for food during this difficult time," said Whitney Hendrickson, Lifestyle Director at Sky Pointe. "More than 20 residents helped collect food and load the truck. We are so happy to be able to be of service to our local community."
Sky Pointe Residents share a culture of philanthropy and rallied together to make a difference in response to current events.
"They wanted to do something for seniors, by seniors – and that they did!" Hendrickson stated.
