We chose Sable Lodge because All the things included in the monthly payment, (the facilities: exercise room, theater, billiards room, lounge, dining hall, etc.) and the welcoming friendly encounters with staff and residents. Everyone greeted everyone else and made newcomers feel welcome. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful: most caring and accommodating.

Love the fact that I don’t have to cook! It also feels like having family around all the time. Been here for over 6 years and still love it.

My parents moved in three months ago and are very happy with the staff, the food, the apartment, the activities, and all the amenities. No complaints! They have used physical therapy on-site and love bingo, cards, and board games with the other residents. I enjoy knowing that they have three square meals a day and caring staff around in case they need them.

Sable Lodge Retirement Community was very nice with nice rooms and grounds. It was in a slightly busier area than the other place, but we liked it. I can't remember who toured us, but she was very good. We like that; that's on our list. We looked at two-bedroom rooms, and they were nice. They also have one-bedroom rooms and studios. The dining area was nice. They have an activity area with cards and a little bit of exercise bikes and things like that.

Sable Lodge Retirement Community was very friendly. We were very impressed with everything that we saw. We visited there several times. Each time we went, we had a different person to talk to in the management, but everybody was very, very nice, and informative. The dining area was also very good. We ate there at least twice, once with my husband and once with my daughter, and each time the head of the food services came out and spoke with us to see how we were doing. He was very, very pleasant, and made us feel very welcome. They offered a lot of things. There was an exercise room. They have people who come in and help with various things. They have a weekly happy hour for everybody. There are different groups that play cards there. They do performances and so forth, and movies frequently. They also offer some church services there. We were very impressed with those. My feeling was they've dotted all the I's and crossed all the T's. Everybody just did a very good job. The food we experienced was excellent and we liked the format. In some of the other places that we visited, everybody ate at the same time, and one place took us an hour and a half to eat lunch. We liked the idea that you can go in and sit down and get your lunch within a timeframe at Sable Lodge Retirement Community. If you are in a hurry, fine. If you're leisurely, that's also fine. They sort of met all our standards.

I've lived here for just under 10 months. The building and apartments are beautiful. The food is excellent. The people are friendly and welcoming. There's lots to do if you're interested. Considering the cost of living, especially housing, I think the cost is very reasonable.

I toured Sable Lodge Retirement Community. I liked the location. The location was good. They had valet parking, a nice dining room, and nice accommodations. I was interested in a one-bedroom-one-bath. It had full kitchens. They had good activities. They had poker games. The common areas were very nice. They had a nice dining room, a snack room, and an exercise room. The staff that I met were very nice.

My Dad, the social butterfly, LOVES living here. He’s safe, comfortable, and entertained. A perfect fit for him at a reasonable price.

I toured this community and it was pretty nice! It's more upscale, so more expensive than others in the area. But worth it if you can afford it. They have extra amenities like a movie theatre, etc. The food was great!

We toured Sable Lodge Retirement Community. It was very nice, I liked it a lot, it was very, very well appointed. The staff was very, very helpful, very nice. No complaints. The location was very good and the building was clean, the outside of the building was well looked after. It was just a nice, open, airy sort of place. Very nice. We did have a meal, and the food was very good. Excellent. We went there at lunchtime, so we just had soup and half a sandwich that was very good. They had everything. They had a fitness room, they had a library. They had an open area where you could just sit. The dining room was very nice. They showed us the apartments and they were a good size. It has a lot of life and it's just nice. I just liked when we first walked in the front door. It just had a nice atmosphere.

My friend is going to be moving to Sable Lodge Retirement Community in South Portland. We chose it for him because it had everything that we were looking for. It has awesome food, the freedom of dining, and the rent was reasonable. It has a full gym, a bank, a theater, and a little store in it. The place is beautiful and there were no high-pressure sales. They just kind of let us view the place, and my friend loved it. The room was a 1-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. It is spacious, 700 and something square feet. All of the places have washer dryer hookups in the bathrooms, but they also have community laundry on each floor. A TV is included with the rent, so is the internet and also a landline phone. The call button emergency alert buttons are included with the rent too. It just really had everything that you could ever need in an apartment. It was very spacious with large windows and the building was beautifully kept. He's very excited to be moving in there and getting out of the woods. They are very limited in their studio apartments. Most of their units are 1-bedroom apartments, but they also have 2-bedroom units. It's independent living but they do have some assistance if you need it. They have agencies that come in, but they do not offer the service. The manager lives on-site, they have concierge service 24 seven at the front desk, and they have valet parking. The place is just phenomenal. They have a full gym, a barbershop, and a hairdressing salon. They even have a bank branch and they have a little thing called Main Street. It has a small little convenience store in there where you can go downstairs and buy certain items. They have a 100-seat movie theater and they have room service at no charge if they decide not to go down to the dining room. You can call and order things and they'll bring them up. It's just really gracious retirement living.

I had the pleasure of touring the Sable Oaks Retirement in South Portland, Maine, and was very impressed. Staff was very professional, friendly, and just so nice. This is a place that I would love to consider when and if the time comes🌹

We're currently living in Sable Lodge Retirement Community. The meals are included here. The rooms are very spacious. The residents here are very, very friendly we're were like a big family, and everybody is greeted with open arms. The staff is very good. I was able to bring somebody in to help me with my husband and that meant that we didn't have to go to assisted living. They have a lot of activities, they have an activities director. We get a schedule every month that is just chock full of things that you can do. Some of the residents have started their own activities. Sixteen of us have bought walking sticks and have a walking stick club.

I have been here at Sable Lodge for six months now. I have been very happy here. I have a garage that I pay extra for. I get three meals a day. They have someone that cleans the car if you need that. They have trips that they take, outings every day, and they have lots of activities in the building. It is really nice. The food is very good.

Although I just moved my mom into Sable Lodge a few days ago, I am really impressed by the friendly and attentive staff (especially the new live in managers, Rachel and Rick). And the food is 10X better than the food at The Enclave in Scarborough. Great start!

I saw Sable Lodge. I like the kitchen and the apartment. I like the fact that there were different places to gather. I like the fact that you could have company and have a section where you could eat. I felt like I was on a cruise ship. Definitely more spacious. Obviously, I prefer that one. When we walked through, it's like they were surprised and they were celebrating birthdays, so we were able to see that. There was a little bit more activity going on at the time. There was a possibility to put a washer and dryer.

Since the shut down of Covid virus in March, Sable Lodge has gone from a five star retirement experience to a two star experience, particularly in the dining area. While the kitchen staff and the excellent chef Tyson prepared delicious meals, the service largely done by teenagers lacks skill and decorum. Well their attitude is pleasant and they are eager to please, these teenagers have not been trained because we have not had a dining room supervisor to train them. It has been months without a dining room supervisor.
Dining amenities such as fine dining has not been resumed since March. No explanation has been given to residents even though fine dining is a signature event for RSL. Covid has been an excuse to omit amenities such as the chefs pantry for months. There is no way to get food other than during the open dining hours. There is no longer options for hamburgers and fries or pizza in the dining line. The machines for cappuccinos hot chocolate coffee popcorn and ice cream are all shut down. These are paid for amenities.
No explanation other than Covid, Covid, Covid has been given to me. We cannot have a coffee mug or a glass Tumblr because of covid. Regardless of the holiday including July 4, absolutely not one single decoration. Dining here is like eating in a cafeteria in the mall.
Some of us have operated hotels, inns, and restaurants, and random businesses in our day, and we would like a clear explanation, a logical explanation for the inconsistencies and lack of amenities. But there is no culinary meeting scheduled in the last five months.

It has been tough here since the lock down since were were a very congenial group of seniors who liked to get out and about. With no trips out or indoor activities including dining it has been hard to stay connected. Our Lifestyle director Angie has tried her best but their is something about "facial feedback." I myself like to look at a person's face when I speak to them and just cannot abide a mask so I stay apartment bound unless I have to make a mail run or go off campus. During this time my husband passed, so it has been twice as difficult. I will say that is and I can hardly wait to get back to eating off of real plates and forks.Surely there is some thing that can be worked out where we can use the real dishes. The care of the building has gone down a notch in the last couple of months, both inside housekeeping and landscaping on the outside. It is almost as though as long as you do not have to show off the building, why keep it at top notch for the residents. Just saying.
