I have been a resident of South Hills Square for 3 ½ years. After living in my home for 35 years, I had mixed feelings about moving into a retirement community. Would I really like it? I quickly learned the answer. SHS is a warm and welcoming community which offers as much or as little social interaction as each resident prefers. There is always something to do including card games, mahjong, bingo, senior oriented exercise classes, movies, weekly social hours with entertainment, and off-site field trips to local points of interest. The staff is exceptionally helpful, gracious and friendly, and the facility is beautifully maintained. Meals are appetizing and varied-----a full breakfast, two different hot entrees are offered at lunch, with two additional selections provided at dinner. A fresh fruit and salad bar is available daily. There is always a variety from which to choose. It is so nice to be greeted by a friendly “hello” from a fellow resident when walking down the hall. SHS has truly become my home! I’m so glad to be here!

My 86 soon-to-be-87-year-old Dad has lived at South Hills Square for almost two years. I feel so glad Dad does not have to worry about maintaining a home, going up and down stairs, or making meals or cleaning his living space. Staff are wonderful and go above and beyond to make their residents comfortable and safe. The campus is clean, with a beautiful location and very well-maintained. Very happy he is here.

I have lived here for 6 months with my 97-year-old mother. I have no complaints. There are plenty of activities designed for seniors, the staff is wonderful, residents are very welcoming. Food is always delicious with lots of choices. Responding to a different review that said the plates were too small(luncheon sized)…if you know anything about seniors, they get overwhelmed with large plates of food so these are the right size. You are not limited in how much you eat or how many desserts you take. It’s like living in a beautiful hotel with lots of amenities which you can see on the website.

South Hills Square is amazing! It’s a beautiful, clean, bright senior living community. When you walk in the front doors, it immediately FEELS good! It always smells fresh and nice. If you come at the right time, you might also be greeted with the smells of good food coming from their kitchen. South Hills Square is warm, welcoming, and comfortable, just like a home should be. The staff that works here is really kind and always willing and eager to help. Even greater, it’s staffed 24/7 with new live-in managers who are pretty terrific, too! And the food? It’s really, really good – better than what you might expect! It’s got everything I want for my dad, and then some! Five stars!

It is extremely clean and modern. Staff are outstanding, and activities galore - many run by residents. The apartments are spacious. It is supposed to be "independent living" with aging in place, but it seems like some resident residents should be in assisted living already as they need assistance when they move in.

I've been a resident here for two years. All costs for residing are conveniently included in the monthly rent. Overall friendliness is universal here, staffing has been qualitative, meal variety has been adequate and preparation upper end fair to good, activity games, events, outside trips to movies, etc. have been excellent. Managers are dedicated and accessible.

Followed by [name removed] who told us how much she loved working there and was very thorough about what South Hills Square Resort had available and all the benefits. She gave us a grand tour and showed us an apartment to see the amenities. It was great! We also got to see how residents decorated their patios. It will be a wonderful place to call home!

Beautiful facility and outstanding staff! We visited a relative here and could not believe what a great facility it was. My relative loves it, and could not stop raving about it. We had dinner with him and then breakfast the next morning. The staff was great! The place was spotlessly clean, the food was very good, compliments to the chef! I'm glad my relative likes it here and we can't wait to visit again!

The chef and dining room service you cannot beat. They offer a variety of meals. My loved one said he hasn't eaten this good in forever. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with an open pantry. He made quite a few friends here and became more social with the other residents. Housekeeping comes once a week. They provide a washer and dryer in his unit. They offer transportation to grocery shopping, doctor's appointments within a certain mile radius, and Fridays they go somewhere for an activity.

I had already done a considerable amount of research/in person visits concerning retirement communities (independent and assisted) for my aunt, so when the time came, I was well aware of the available options for my parents. My parents and I were sold on the first visit and signed a contract right then and there! SHS is head and shoulders above other communities. The facility itself is beautiful and spotless. Literally *everyone*, employees and residents alike, are friendly, welcoming and down-to-earth. You really feel like you are with family or your best neighbors. My parents absolutely LOVE IT. All they keep saying is how nice and wonderful everyone who works and lives there is. They thoroughly enjoy the resort lifestyle living and we joke it is like being on a cruise, without the ocean! It brings my siblings and me such joy and comfort to know that my parents have found their forever home. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My sister, Beth, suggested South Hills Square for my mother in law. On the first tour visit, we were sold that this was the perfect place for Kathy! All of the staff are amazingly compassionate, positive and friendly. Kim, Glenna and Greg bring energy, love and companionship to the entire community, including the extended family. My mother and I started to explore her options for Senior Living three months ago. We were looking for a place where she could meet new friends with lots of daily activities and great food. South Hills Square Retirement Resort is that place. My mother moved in about a month ago and hasn't been happier. This place is just beautiful. Everything has been thought of from the Salon, Movie Theater, Bank, and convenient store. South Hill Square Resort staff is the best, very accommodating and extremely friendly. Perfect is correct. I could not ask for anything better for my Father. I have stayed here with my father as he was recuperating from a fall and as I walked through the lovely hallways, listening the the beautiful music playing, I have always been greeted by the friendliest people. Glenna and Gregg and their team are the best- friendly, helpful, always giving their best. Kimberly, who helped us find the right apartment was the first person we met and set the stage for what we would find as the best place for my father. The food is excellent. The amenities are endless and every corner of the building is spotless. You will find many blessings here at South Hills Square.

My Mom is in her 90s, and when she was a working professional in her career days, she didn't have time to maintain friendships. So now that she is at South Hills Square, I am amazed and thrilled to see her making friends and being surrounded by them in this lovely community! She has funny and genuine friends, some are her age, and some are younger. But they enjoy and understand each other in mutual admiration. To see my Mom attending bingo, crafts, shopping presentations, holiday celebrations, all without her family but being independent with her own friends is heart warming to me.

My mother, after living in a beautiful house in Squirrel Hill for 25+ years, felt it was time to find a retirement community as the next chapter in her life. After a lot of research and visits to multiple providers, she found this gem. With Covid in full swing and thus doing it alone due to restrictions, the hurtles seemed endless and daunting. I am proud of her for what she accomplished on her own. But the staff at SHSRR shouldered much of her burdens with movers who knew the facility, a brand new building and grounds offering open space and beautiful views, and pleasant / professional help offered in every capacity from computers, TVs and appliance training, fine food and dining, valet, cleaning service and so much more she didn't just find an apartment, but a new home. So thank you to all the staff and to my mothers new (hilarious) friends. I am so happy she found you all and more importantly, She is too.

Tonight I spoke on the phone With a manager ( I believe her name was Glenna). One could not ask for a kinder or more personable person to be "in charge" of your living arrangements during your retirement years!! Sounds like a wonderful place to spend your retirement, plus affordable too when compared to the other places around the 'Burgh! I'm excited to visit and get a better feel for the place and see all of the wonderful amenities South Hills Square Retirement Resort. Both my parents and in-laws moved into South Hills Square retirement resort. It’s a lovely new facility with friendly residents and a staff that go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. Greg and Glenna, the on site managers, are genuine wonderful caring people. From hooking up TVs and computers, to arranging COVID vaccines, they do everything in their power to make the moving transition as smooth as possible.

South Hills Square Retirement Community is brand new. I like it. They're very clean, and they have very happy, positive, upbeat people who live on-site and who are also in charge. I feel that's really important because you don't want it to be like a dismal type of place to live. The apartments were so nice, extremely clean, and spacious. They had a barbecue area, a movie theater, nice dining facilities, a billiard room, and common areas.
